A Finished Scarf

Well, it's been another week of being unbearably hot outside and a freezing tundra inside. I cannot wait for the Fall. I've been looking forward to all the cozy crafts that feel more at home in the cooler months, right now as I continue to crochet that wool cardigan for my husband, it feels like it will never be cold enough to actually wear it.

Speaking of which, I made it to the buttonhole section of the ribbing at long last! Finally, some small breaks from back and forth single crochets in the back loop! Hallelujah.

I also got some progress made on the jester hat, adding another side in the light blue color, which was slightly easier since I didn't have to change colors like the first side. Now on to the dark blue side!

I took a little time to work on spinning on my drop spindle. I'm using beautiful dyed wool from Shirsty Cat that I bought from her booth at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival a couple years ago. I'm working on trying to get the thickness of the yarn more consistent. I even managed to do some spinning without having to hold the spindle under my arm, and just let it spin while I worked! Definitely something I thought would take more time to get comfortable with.

Very exciting news, I finished knitting the marled scarf I've been working on or a few months on and off! I started weaving in the ends, but it will take awhile since there are so so many from all the colors I used. I looked up how to weave in my ends into a knitted project, since I always forget in between projects, and came away a bit disappointed. I could not find a good tutorial that showed clearly how to do it. So I've kinda been making it up in the best way I can, making sure to weave in on the back side of the project so you can't see my kind of ugly weaving. There has got to be a better way!

Good news on the tank top, I think I adequately fixed the twist strap! I had to cut into my project (terrifying I know), leaving myself a lifeline of barber cord before I got to snipping. The result, a slightly less pretty join on the tippy top of the strap, but one that probably won't be too noticeable anyway. I'm happy with it. In fact I'm overjoyed that I didn't ruin my project! Now I'm working on the body more, though I think I'm going to run out of yarn... I'll have to see if I can order more from Shirsty Cat if they has anything similar in stock that will work with this.

My fingers are itching for another project, but for now I'd say this is probably a good amount! I did pick up my scrap project again, where I've gathered all the scraps from previous projects and am crocheting a blanket and a type of Bavarian stitch. We'll see what sorts of things I find myself obsessed with on Pinterest this week!😉

Have a lovely week!
